Fifteen of us learned a new and fun way to golf--and glow--in the dark! We had a BBQ dinner in the clubhouse and free range balls. After receiving special glow balls and a glow necklace, we headed out to play six holes of glow in the dark golf. The greens were outlined with glow sticks--as were the pins. Depth perception was challenging--as were the hazards that you didn't even know were there (we could have used night vision goggles!) Afterwards we went to a karaoke bar where Dell performed to a standing ovation!

Fifteen of us enjoyed a fantastic Labor Day golf weekend up at Ruttger's resort in Grand Rapids. We had beautiful sunny skies every days and awesome starlit evenings. We golfed at least 18 holes each day--and with our unlimited golf package--some golfed 36 holes a day! We enjoyed playing at the Sugarbrooke resort course, the Pokegama Golf Course, and at the Wendigo Golf Club. Other than aerated greens, brutal winds, and an over abundance of trees in our way, the courses were all fun and challenging. The meals were good and the bonfires each evening were enjoyed by all.

The mingle @ the Walker on the Green was a quite a success. The group was impressed by the creativity and eco-friendly design of the golf holes--and the unexpected skill that it took to score. Several hole-in-ones were recorded (Vicki M., Theresa B., Gary Q., Bonnie R., and Bridget F.) Afterwards the group headed to Joe's Garage for dinner on the rooftop.

Once again the course and the weather were ideal! The swamp started taking its toll on balls on the very first hole--and continued right through #18! There were many more agonies of defeat than thrills of victory! Congratulations to Mike N. with the low score of the day--an 87! Jodi H. set the greens on fire sinking five putts from 20-30 feet. She also came very close to a hole in one! Thanks to Wayne H. for hosting the after golf party at his home. He had the largest grill on wheels--and a very impressive private library. Another wonderful TCSG outing!

We had a good turnout for a mid-summer mingle at Famous Daves in Minnetonka. It was a nice evening to sit on the porch sharing stories and partaking in good food and fine beverages.

Several TCSG members volunteered at the 3M Champsionship at the TPC Course in Blaine. It was another great week of golf. One practice round was rained out--and there was a 2 hour and 50 minute rain delay on Saturday. Jodi, our lead hole captain, made several new friends with her baked goods...banana bread and cookies! Scott Hoch even gave her a signed golf ball...."for her efforts!" The 2008 3M Championship winner was R.W. Eaks with a new three day tournament record of -23!

We had 29 golfers @ Monticello County Club on Saturday, July 12. There was no rain in sight, but once again the wind played a major factor. Cindy and Lois played through the wind--and both recorded birdies! Rick & Nan had some trouble on a par 3--losing three balls between the two of them--YIKES! Dave B. was a victim of the wind. He had a six foot putt-but after the wind got done with it--he had a 7 footer to come back with! We enjoyed dinner in the club house afterwards where prizes were awarded for those with the "LONGEST DRIVE" to Monticello (Jim O. and Diane N.)

What a wonderful 4th of July! The weather was perfect and the course was in great shape. 38 golfers participated in a scramble. The big winners at 4 under were Linda S., Wayne H., Carolyn C., and Judy M. Connie G. was voted most patriotic, Theresa B. came in second....and Nan was officially voted Miss Congeniality (although Jeanne kept reminding her that her behavior was not always fitting of that title!) We had a barbecue at Theresa's house afterwards--with Dave B. grilling some great burgers and brats. As dusk set in, Doug P. and Rick C. (our resident pyro's) put on a fireworks show. It was a wonderful holiday event!

Jeff worked with TCSG golfers on their short game. He offered lots of pointers on how to chip them close....consistently. Now we just have to remember what we learned!

This was TCSG's first trip to Riverwood National--another course on the north end of town. It was a beautiful course with tight fairways and lots of water. Cindy S. had a birdie and finished closer to 100 than ever before. Bridget F. had an eagle and had her lowest personal best round! Beth B. shot a 39 on the front and took a lot of money from her group (and from Bob K.!!) Rick C. enjoyed the beach so much that it took him 4 shots to get our of a bunker! We dined in the clubhouse afterwards and proceeded to heckle a bachelor party! We hope to return to Riverwood National!

32 Golfers participated in the Deer Run event where we celebrated birthdays for Vicki M. and Doug P. Vicki had to endure the raucous celebration with balloons on her cart and cupcakes on the course (she will never live down those cupcakes!) Doug was smart--not acknowledging that it was his special day until dinner! Vicki was quite a sport...instead of accepting birthday drinks on the 19th hole--she paid for everyone's drinks! Jeanne G missed a hole-in-one by inches! Mark E had a birdie on #16--and was 1-under on his 9 best holes. Jim O parred three straight holes! A lively dinner was held afterwards at Houlihan's.

Wind continued to be the theme of the weekend as 26 of TCSG's finest teed it up at Troy Burne in Hudson, WI. Water played a part in several player's games: Lori C. took one small step into the drink and quickly sank to her knee cap. As she was tyring to get out, her arm went in up to her elbow! Rick C. and Neil H. were retrieving balls from the water and were almost hit by Theresa's golf cart! Jodi walked the course--but had to get a lift from Tom H. to get her sky caddie and Leon to retrieve a club left on a previous hole. Bill D. left quite an imprint in one of the over 120 bunkers! We finished our round in 4 hours and 40 minutes! Afterwards we mingled and ate in the clubhouse.

Our day at The Summit in Cannon Falls seemed more conducive to flying a kite or wind surfing--winds were between 20-30 mph. Twenty three of us embarked on yet another chance to bring a course to its knees. Pam S. and Carrie S. both had birdies. Dave B. seemed immune to the course and its conditions--he had 3 birdies and 2 chip ins. Afterwards we went to the Black Stallion for a marvelous dinner.

First event of the 2008 season! Snow was forecasted...but we woke to blue skies---and 35 mph winds. Twenty eager golfers braved the weather--with many layers of clothing and ski caps! Three chip-in shots were reported (Mike M, Judy M, and Dave B)! Theresa B had 3 birdies (none being Grey Goose..you know she prefers Shakers!) Betty B practiced her position golf by playing to yardage markers-but unfortunately shattering them into small pieces. Dinner afterwards was at the club house. A wonderful season opening event!

Our 2007 TCSG Holiday Party was once again at Cathy's party room. It is such a convenient location--and the party room is spacious, nicely decorated--and has two kitchens! We had Papa Murphy pizza, snacks, and beverages. The gift exchange was a hit. Poor Bob couldn't keep a gift (Patti kept stealing it from him)....but Theresa did get her salt and pepper shakers back from the previous year! All in all a great party! Thanks Cathy!

The Year End Banquet was well attended--62 members strong! The food was great (we were pleasantly surprised to find wine was included with the meal) and the awards were plentiful. Afterwards, many of us stayed to dance the night away at Mancini's lounge. Interestingly, the social committee has recommended the group participate in swing dance lessons. Look out next year!

It was a rather cool morning--in fact we had a one hour frost delay--but 24 golfers toughed it out for a fun round of golf at Pioneer Creek. Actually, the sun came out and we had a great day. Afterwards we went to the Peppercorn Grille in Long Lake for a very nice dinner.

30 or so of us came out for another great day of golf at Edinburgh. We had brunch @ MacTavish's before golf and then dinner @ MacTabish's after golf. Eat, Golf, Drink, and Be Merry! What a way to live!

15 of us spent Labor Day weekend @ Cragun's Resort in Brainerd. We had four days of spectacular weather and great golf. The Legacy courses were tough--and the greens fast. Several days some of us played 27 or 36 holes of golf. We had breakfast each day at the lodge and dinner each night at the clubhouse. Another great holiday weekend!

Even with the State Fair going on--and the tragic 35W bridge collapse near the course, 23 of us participated in a great day of golf at Gross. Conditions were ideal (once again), and the scores were relatively good. There were lots of mature trees and elevated greens--but very little water. All in all, it was a very fair course. After golf we had dinner outside at Jakes Sports Cafe where our service was excellent, the drinks plentiful, and the food fantastic!

How many perfect golf days can we have this summer? Twenty seven of us played Eagle Valley on Sunday, August 12th. It was probably one of the most spectacular days of the summer--after high heat, humidity, and storms on Saturday, we had lots of sun and low humidity on Sunday! Afterwards we headed to the Woodbury Broiler for dinner.

The 18 hole putting course at Centennial Lakes provided a great opportunity for us to work on our putting skills--on REAL putting greens (with real sand and water hazards!) Twenty golfers attended the event on a sunny, warm Tuesday evening. The highlight was a hole in one by Sue P! Afterwards, the group headed to Ciao Bella for dinner.

Once again TCSG provided the marshall duties for Hole #5 of the 3M Championship at the TPC Twin Cities. It was sunny and hot for the practice rounds. Saturday was rainy and cool...Sunday was overcast...but ideal conditions for great scoring. The 3M Championship is one of the most popular and successful events of the senior circuit--and attracts many of the top senior golfers. D.A Weibring birdied the last three holes to win the 2007 3M Championship at 18 under. Thanks to all TCSG members who volunteered!

This must sound like a broken record...another gorgeous July Saturday in Minnesota. Temps in the 90's once again...We could really use rain...but not on the weekends! 36 of us played Loggers Trail in Stillwater. For many of us, it was our first experience at Loggers Trail. Nice course....just a bit tight at times. After golf, we went down the road to Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter for german beer and food....and some may have even headed downstairs for the polka fest!

Eleven golfers braved the heat on Sunday afternoon to golf nine holes at Meadowbrook. Afterwards, they headed to Bunny's for dinner. Dinner turned out to be FREE for one lucky golfer--thanks to a friendly wager with Bob!

Even though Willingers is the furthest course SOUTH that we played this year, the event was full--with 40 golfers! It was yet another beautiful day...SERIOUSLY! Janet and Bob set up a 19th hole with wine, Fat Tire beer, and munchies for everyone to enjoy. Afterwards, the group headed to Theresa's for grilling and a bonfire. Another wonderful event!

34 golfers took on River Oaks in Cottage Grove on Saturday, July 14th. It was another perfect day (just a bit windy). Scores were overall quite good. Afterwards, Becky's parents had us all over to grill and socialize. Thanks Ray and Spike!

It was a full house at Heritage Links. 40 Golfers on Independence Day in Lakeville! The course was rather challenging with many blind shots. A few golfers even played the wrong hole from time to time (and not necessarily due to bad shots!) Afterwards, we partied at Theresa's and then some headed to the fireworks display in Lakeville.

WOW....46 golfers attended the 2007 Jodi Open at Tartan Park in Lake Elmo. After the 18 hole round, the golfers went to Champps near Woodbury for food, drink, and fellowship.

35 golfers particpated in the Sunday event at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake. It was a pretty hot day--and the carts didn't have tops--but there was a slight breeze to keep us cool. The course was a bit tight with lots of trees (hence the course name!) Another delightful day!

15 members attended the weekend event at Ruttger's--Sugar Lake in beautiful Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The weather held up--for the most part. The little bit of rain didn't dampen any spirits. The group golfed the Sugar Lake course as well as the famed Pokegama course.

5 of our Members attended the Memorial Day National Event at Pinehurst in North Carolina. (Jodi, Martha, Mark, Richard, and Theresa.) A former member, Lisa, also attended. The weather was perfect (90's and sunny), the courses were great, the ASGA members were fun, and the Pinehurst staff was very accommodating! It was an awesome trip!

39 Golfers teed it up on Saturday, May 19th in beautiful Cannon Falls, Minnesota at The Summit Golf Club. The weather forecasters predicted scattered thunderstoroms--but it was an absolutely gorgeous day.

Our first Nine N Dine of the season was at Hiawatha on Friday, May 11th. It was an absolutely perfect night for golf--and the turnout was exceptional (30 golfers and several new faces!) It has become a tradition that as golfers finish, they gather on the ninth green to cheer on members as they approach the green. Note to Self: Arrive early to get the first tee time--to avoid the anxiety and potential humiliation of finishing the round with a large gallery!

Saturday, May 5th was our first golf event of the year. It would also be our first outing at Willingers in Northfield. It was a cold and windy day....but there was just a "slight chance" of rain (20%)! Well, it rained heavily and there were monsoon force winds! Many of us got drenched! We sat in the clubhouse for about an hour before play could resume (cart path only.) Eight hearty golfers chose to play--the rest are hoping to go back later in the season.

Cathy hosted the TCSG Holiday Party again at her party room. The party room is the perfect place for this gathering...lots of room, two kitchens, a pool table, piano, movie room, music, etc. Even though many members didn't pre-register, we had a great turnout! Members were encouraged to bring a $10 gift for a gift exchange. We also collected donations for the Toys For Tots program.

Golfers come out of hibernation for TCSG's Spring Kick-Off held this year at Outback in Bloomington. Connecting with old friends, meeting new golfers, and getting a peak at the 2006 golf schedule made it a fun night.

What do you get with ice, tennis balls & a group of golf fanatics? The annual winter cabin party of course! We meet at Staring Lake in Eden Prairie for 9-holes of golf on the lake and then retreat to the cabin for an afternoon of games, dinner and relaxing with friends.

This year's end-of-year gala was a boat cruise on held on the St. Croix. It was a beautiful fall night with dinner and dancing; after docking in Stillwater, the party continued at Mancini's.

A fantastic weekend at Cragun's resort with golf play at Bobby and Dutch's Legacy courses. These were rated in 2005 the two best courses in the state of MN according to Golf Digest.

TCSG sponsored Hole #5 & 14 of our members were marshals and rubbed shoulders with the pros! The finale was Saturday night..we were wined and dined as thanks for making the tournament a major success. To date, the 3M Championship has raised over $10.5 million for charity.

Tagalong Resort near Hayward was a new spot for TCSG to celebrate Memorial Weekend. Beautiful course, great accomodations, smooth wine & fine eats coupled with the nicest group of folks you'll ever meet. Still haven't joined us for a golf weekend getaway....you don't know what you're missing.

TCSG partnered with the Matched Singles Tennis, Sitzmark Ski, and Hiawatha Bike clubs to host a Spring Fling dance at the Thunderbird Hotel. The evening was a tremendous success with over 500 people socializing, dancing and having one heck of a good time.

95 of us met at Outback Steakhouse to celebrate the kick-off of the golf season. We ate, drank, practiced our putting, and got the first look at the 2005 golf schedule. Looks Good!!! Many prizes were given out and the grand prize winner, Linda Slarks, received an hour golf lesson with Bryan Skavnak.

Del & Dave joined other chapters throughout the country in Myrtle Beach over Thanksgiving for the Turkey Shoot. For one week, the golfers played at various courses throughout Myrtle Beach and enjoyed fabulous golf, delicous food and great new friends.

August was a busy golfing month playing Troy Burne, Boulder Pointe & Oak Glen in Stillwater. A great package included carts, range balls, & 18 holes on this lovely course. We then moved to the Acapulco Restaurant for relaxation and bragging rights.

River Oaks in Cottage Grove was the 11th out of 18 Saturday/Sunday events TCSG played this year. 36 golfers enjoyed a perfect summer day of golf and then continued to Becky's parents home who live near the course for cocktails & appetizers.
